GemHOME

Privacy and your data

Your inventory is not shared with Gem Home

Gem Home is developed by Jeppe Nielsen. Contact: gemhomeapp@icloud.com. Your homes, items, photos and profile name are stored in your iCloud with Apple, not on Gem Home servers. The developer cannot access your private inventory through the CloudKit console. The app processes and displays content on your phone. Invited members can access a shared home through Apple’s iCloud sharing.

iCloud and access

The app uses a technical iCloud identifier to find your homes and check membership. No separate Gem Home account is created, and the app does not receive your iCloud email address. Your chosen name is visible to members of your homes.

Unlocking and photos

Apple checks Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode locally. Gem Home receives only the result, not biometric data or your passcode. Camera and Photos are used when you choose to add a photo or scan a QR code. Photos are cached on your phone, and session information is kept in secure device storage. The photo cache is cleared on logout and account changes.

Sharing, storage and deletion

Content is stored in private and shared CloudKit databases while the home exists. The owner can delete the home’s active records, photos and sharing under My homes. The developer cannot read or delete your private inventory on your behalf. Revoking access cannot remove copies a member has already saved. Apple determines the handling of any backups. Gem Home does not delete your Apple Account.

Payments

Apple handles purchases, payments and subscriptions. The app checks purchase status on your phone and stores your choice of Plus homes in your private iCloud. Members can see whether a shared home has Plus. The developer does not receive payment card details. Apple may provide the developer with sales and financial reports about the app.

QR links and this website

A QR code contains a technical storage identifier, not its name, photos or contents. The identifier is in the URL fragment and is not sent to the website as a path or query. Cloudflare hosts the website and processes ordinary network traffic to deliver and protect it. Your inventory is not stored there. The landing page has no advertising tools, tracking cookies or signup forms. Example searches happen only in your browser. The website’s traffic is separate from the app’s private iCloud content.

When you contact support

Jeppe Nielsen receives the contact details, text and images you choose to send. They are used to answer your enquiry and investigate the problem. They are retained as long as necessary to handle the enquiry and any specific legal claims or obligations. Send only necessary information. This processing by the developer is separate from the promise that your inventory is not shared with Gem Home.

Your rights

For personal data the developer actually receives, applicable rules allow you to request access, correction, deletion and a copy, or object to processing. Use the contact email above. You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet). Information in your iCloud is managed through the app and Apple.

Security

Share homes only with people you trust. Avoid national identity numbers, passwords, alarm codes and other sensitive information unnecessary for your inventory. Gem Home does not promise end-to-end encryption in every situation. Apple describes its processing and security in its privacy information.
